Tuanku Muhriz juga merupakan Canselor Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
28.03.2012, Rabu - Tahniah diucapkan kepada Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almrhum Tuanku Munawir diatas perlantikan baginda sebgai Canselor Universiti As-Sofa (UAS). Watikah perlantikan telah disampaikan kepada baginda oleh Pengerusi Majlis Universiti Datuk Syeikh Muhammad Fuad Kamaludin Al-Maliki dalam satu majlis ringkas yang diadakan di Istana Hinggap, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Perlantikan ini memberi kuasa kepda baginda untuk mempengerusikan Konvokesyen UAS disamping melaksanakan apa-apa kewajipan lain sepertimana yang diperuntukkan dalam perlembagaan UAS.
Naib Canselor UAS, Dr Yusri Mohamad dalam kenyataanya kepada Bernama selepas majlis ini memaklumkan bahawa Majlis Pelancaran UAS akan disempurnakn oleh Tuanku Muhri pada 07.04.2012. Tambah beliau lagi UAS dibangunkan oleh Yayasan Sofa Negeri Sembilan dan ia ditubuhkan melalui Syarikat Gerbang As Sofa Sdn Bhd.
